Crappy Christmas

Dec 26, 2010 09:29

I lost my grandmother yesterday on Christmas. The rock of my life is gone. I'm lost and I don't know what to do. I'm numb and I'm worried. I don't know how I'm going to pay my bills. . .I don't even know where I'm going to be living anymore. I don't want to stay in SC, but I have to. Unless I can find a state without a waiting list for ADAP I ( Read more... )

I'm asking my friends in the area if they can provide contacts to help with your physical needs ... I wish I could help with the rest.

*hugs and comforts*

Hi,

I'm a friend of resonant, and I'm also a case manager at AIDS Care Ocean State. First of all, my heart goes out to you. I don't know what kind of relationship you had with your grandmother but that's got to be hard for you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

can tell you that RI and MA do not have waiting lists at present. RI did start to have a waiting list for a couple of months, but governor-elect Chafee's wife is in the medical field and he's more or less vowed that the state will do whatever it takes to take care of everyone. MA is probably going to face some budget cuts over the next couple of years, but I expect their ADAP program to be a scared cow that does not get touched.

If you want to look at going to MA, I recommend getting in touch with the Boston Living Center. If you are thinking about RI, then I recommend either AIDS Project Rhode Island or AIDS Care Ocean State.

D'oh! I meant to hit preview, not post....

If you decide to contact ACOS (the last link), talk to Pamela. That's where I work, but I won't be there till next Monday. If you decide to go to APRI, I'm not sure who does intakes anymore (it might be Alix) but I know most of the case managers there and they are all great people.

The most important thing I want to say for the moment is hang in there. I know it's hard now, but it will get better. One of my favorite books, Illusions by Richard Bach, has this amazing quote in it...
Here is a test to determine
whether or not you've achieved your mission on Earth:
If you're still alive, you haven't.
There have been many points in my life when I've felt like maybe it's more trouble than it's worth to keep me alive, and the answer is pretty much always yes. I've hit many points in my life where I could not imagine a way out, a resolution to whatever crisis I was in. And yet, I am still here. Amazing things happen. Your life is precious. There is help out there ( ... )

check out this information if you do not already have it:

http://forums.poz.com/index.php?action=printpage;topic=35373.0

it is about free meds for those on ADAP waiting list...also...here is a list of states with and without waiting lists as of 12/16/10:

http://www.statehealthfacts.org/comparetable.jsp?ind=552&cat=11

- TN does NOT have a waiting list.

I am SOOOO sorry...the shock of losing someone like that is bad enough without it being on a holiday as well. As far a living etc...not to be heartless - but ...did she leave you the house? insurance? etc? do you have someone to help you with the legalities?

I am so sorry hon. :(
