Yeah, although I've complained a lot about the music tastes here at St. Thomas, I've found that I shy away from arguments about whether or not O.A.R. has more artistic integrity than any of the bands that I like, and that I allow all my friends to listen to Phish and other music because if I keep on saying "no, no, no, my music is better, here!" then it just makes me a pretentious prick.

That's reasonable, although I don't think there's anything wrong with making criticisms about music if you can back them up. OAR, for instance, seems to basically be frat boys co-opting elements from a culture they probably don't understand all that well and making obnoxious white reggae with them. Nothing wrong with pointing out why that sucks.

I understand that, but my roommate is a bitch when it comes to that stuff, he always just argues down to the last word and doesn't really listen to what I say, and I find it's better to avoid that conflict, cuz he's a great guy other than his taste in music.
