I also have a lot of feelings about River Song but that's a ridiculous post for another time.

I don't know what happened but I appear to have had a Star Trek-related breakdown of some sort? Like, I went to STID, I enjoyed it but not as much as I could have, it's a good thing the cast is charismatic as all get-out to make up for JJ Abrams. I went home thinking about how much I love Kirk and Spock, although I never think of myself as being ( Read more... )

OH MY GOD I can't even tell you how glad I was to see that other people lose their mind over this, ok?

I will see if I can dig up some old school fic, I know I've read it, but honestly, I think that the the best fix-it is really the last 20 minutes of The Search for Spock (I mean, the whole movie, sure, but, if you're pressed for time and don't need Klingon dramarama, then skip to the arrival on Vulcan) and the time-travel amazingness of Voyage Home.

I've read SOME of the old school fic but usually I'm like, THERE ARE TOO MANY WORDS IN THESE PARAGRAPHS AND SPOCK'S PENIS IS TOO LOVINGLY-DESCRIBED AS WEIRD AND POSSIBLY BELL-SHAPED HOW DOES THAT GO. *grins*

So maybe more rewatching IS the ticket. Fortunately the first time I watched Wrath of Khan, we had the Search for Spock on hand so there was no wait-time between one and the other--I couldn't imagine being a fan, back in the day, and having it end LIKE THAT. D: D: D: This is why dead canons are the best canons; knowing these things in advance is a lifesaver!

But if you DO think of recs, I am all. for. them. <3<3<3

I NEED SO MUCH OF THEM. And like, okay, legit: I have seen the canon that actually fixes it, but I need a million wallowing stories so that this weird fixation lets up!

PET. WHAT IF IT DOESN'T LET UP. WHAT IF MY BRAIN JUST DOES THIS NOW FOREVER. :D:

Whatever you do, don't watch Killa's vid "Dante's Prayer." Unless, you know, you need a nice cathartic sobbing fit.

Oh I have seen it. It is a delightful thing. *grins* I do not quite get to the sobbing fit place, perhaps because I was able to watch those two movies back-to-back, but the ending slaaaaaaays me anyway. That is exactly the fic-vibe I want, too--cathartic indeed!

I love you; now I'm picturing bb!you in 1982 sitting rapt in front of Wrath of Khan. I have no fic for you, but would totally rewatch some TOS (don't wait for me, but if we're looking for something to watch sometime!)

I would have been like, 1. But probably already a slasher? *grins*

WOULD you watch some with me? That would be super delightful--I did a rewatch maybe right before we started dating, that summer, when I realized the episodes were on Hulu. SUPER enjoyable and I would enjoy having someone to flail my feelings at. :D :D :D Put it on the list!
