So a friend asked me to educate her on the Beatles.
I'm not sure I can do it justice and I know I can't talk about them without talking about the fandom. My mom was a Beatlemaniac and is still a PaulGirl. When I say that I'm third generation fangirl, I'm not joking. My grandmother and mother were fangirls. I was raised to be one.

One thing that I did want to point out was -
George is definitely the spiritualist of the group and explores Hinduism before coming back to Christianity.
George converted fully to Hinduism (I think Olivia did as well)! He fully folded himself into the Hindu philosophy and teachings, and when he passed away, he was cremated and the ashes immersed in the Ganges, near the holy Indian city of Varanasi.
It makes me happy to know that he didn't treat Indian culture or Hinduism as a 'Mystic East' fetish-y fad that many other white British people did during that time (and now, lol). He really truly embraced it, particularly towards the end of his life. <3

Re: the modern fandom perspective - When I got into SPN fandom, I discovered there are a lot of fangirls who live in terror that their families will find out.
It never occurred to me to hide it from mine and once I thought about it I realized that's because unlike most of my fandom - I am third generation fangirl. It made me look at Mom and her love of the Beatles in a different light. And once you do - the similarities and the terminology is striking.
