I just received an email regarding a book drive:

New Orleans Public Library is asking for any and all hardcover and paperback books to restock the shelves after Katrina. The library staff will assess which titles will be designated for the shelves. The rest will be distributed to destitute families or sold for library fundraising.

Thank you so much for sharing this information! I will definitely take advantage of this---I'm trying to lighten the load with the move and this will help. I love that the books are going to a good "home".

Me too! I remember you giving away books via LJ. I totally give away books, too, when I think the recipient needs or will enjoy it. I hate just giving them to Goodwill. This is a worthy cause.

I definitely wanted to clean out my shelves. Will be making a box today and sending it out.

I hang onto books until I can find a good home for those I no longer need. This is *definitely* a good one.
