A full list of negative influences on her mood:gigolohitmanDecember 7 2010, 14:23:51 UTC
* Someone has a nicer tomb than me. * My Quarters are not befittingly awesome * Ditto my study, until recently. I guess it will do now. * Ditto my personal dining room * I had to sleep on the floor recently (nevermind that it was because engravers were busy upgrading my room so I'd stop being angry about it) *I was woken up by noise recently, it just won't do (engravers again...) * I don't have enough chests to store my loot in. Make me more chests. Now. * I don't have a weapon rack, or armour rack. A baroness should have these things.

So there were a few things that got neglected in between her becoming baron, and me dealing with the flood. It would have been okay (I've walked these tightropes before) but I haven't had too much experience with tombs before, so the extent of her anguish at this was unexpected. I'd started improving things, but she snapped...

No, don't worry. It is most definitely NOT permanent.
Ways this can end:
1) She goes violent, and starts attacking dwarves. The military step in. 2) She goes melancholy, and sits in a room refusing to eat. Hunger steps in. 3) She goes mad with grief, and...well, the lastdwarf I had that happen to stripped naked, and ran around the fortress until they reached a bridge over an underground river, into which they leapt. 4) The lack of swimming ability stepped in. I am more attentive to her needs in future, certainly until her mood climbs back to something less worrying.
The annoying thing is, literally EVERYONE else is quite happy, or very happy. The fortress isn't a bad place to be (there is, for instance, a ready supply of good booze, courtesy of our increasingly skilled brewer). But nobles are special little snowflakes. Special little snowflakes with axes and swords and a disregard for other people's safety. She recovers.
