its no more sketchy than meeting them at the bar... at least online they're usually sober, and there is no super load music interfering with a conversation. we live in the age of technology, so instant messaging would be the same as singles dances, and dating services.
Considering the ratio of gay to straight people in most cities, its rather hard to meet people, unless you go to gay bars, which arent really my thing, as well as not being many peoples cup of tea. Ive met both my long term relationships on the net, most people in the gay community met their friends, or lovers through some form on online thing, or they use it to stay in contact, as does most of the world. Its only impersonal if thats the mindset you approach it with, because otherwise letters would have been impersonal, penpals wouldnt really ever become friends. And although you meet freaks on the net, you meet just as many in real life, sometimes the impersonal part is a good distancing measure for the freaks, so you can decide after a while to meet them.
why the attack? is there something bothering you about me? or just online people in general?
