Guidelines and Prompt List for the Giles/Xander Fabulous Fall Fest
Here we go! Thanks to everyone who provided a prompt for the Giles/Xander Fabulous Fall Fest. There are 75 different prompts to choose from so feel free to choose whichever prompt or prompts strike your fancy. Writers are not limited to the fic list and artists can choose to depict something from the fic list if they so desire. More than one person can create from the same prompt (I could see fifty different depictions of Giles & Xander's first kiss and not be bored.) You can choose your own prompt. And if you talents lie in creating, for example, a "Shades of Gray" black & white picspam, an "Evolution of their Relationship" fanvid or essay, or a fanmix to which "Giles seduces a reluctant-to-admit-their-mutual-attraction Xander", please feel free to share these with the community as well.

Deadlines - Posting your creations can begin the moment this list goes up. The Fest will run until October 31 at which time I'll compose a masterlist of all the created material. If you can't make the deadline or aren't ready to create something now, don't stress out. This is about having fun and spreading the Giles/Xander love, so if real life or a fickle muse delays the process a bit, no worries.
There are so many possibilities to play with here, so let's get this Fest underway!

- Giles needs Xander's knowledge of popular culture in order to save the day.
- It's Father's Day, and Xander decides to buy a present for Giles
- Xander convinces Giles to teach him how to fight
- Xander has too much to drink at a celebration/wedding/party and wakes up with only dim memories of the end of the evening, and a new tattoo. Does it have demonic significance? Giles will know.
- Xander is jealous of Giles' strong relationship with Buffy, and wishes he can be as close to Giles as Buffy is. He does something about it.
- A demon in Sunnydale casts a spell which causes everyone's appearance to change in some way, revealing their sexual orientation.

- S3 fic, in a moment of anger, Giles lashes out on Xander mentioning how directionless and incompetent Xander is. Hurt, Xander reflects on his life and tries to prove Giles wrong.
- Xander feels ashamed for sleeping on Oz Watch, and he's more upset because Giles is angry with him
- Xander needs to write an essay about a role model. He chooses Giles. Somehow Giles discovers the essay.
- In the high school years Buffy and Willow forget to tell Giles it's Xander's birthday so Giles buys something hurriedly in his lunch hour. Years later he finds Xander has kept it.
- High school Xander asks Giles to tutor him, or help research for schoolwork.
Sunnydale - After High School
- Early s4 - Xander comes back from Oxnard much more mature. Giles notices, Buffy doesn't. No Riley, please.
- Early s4 - Giles defends Xander after Xander's homelife comes to his attention. Willow feels guilty for not doing anything for Xander before. No mentions of Willow's magic, please.
- Early s4 - Giles and Xander start a relationship (no daddy!Kink). No mentions of Riley or Willow's magic, please.
- Early s4 - Buffy and Willow feel guilty for dismissing both Giles and Xander for college life. Please no mentions of Willow's magic or Riley.
- Season 4, two bored men, talking late into the night, every night. Secrets are told, the friendship deepens.
- Post-"Spiral": Giles is in the hospital after taking a spear in the gut. Xander decides life is too short to keep his feelings secret any longer.
- Post-Tabula Rasa, Anya's feelings towards Xander start to wane as she thinks mostly about Giles, which causes great problems and conflicts between Xander and Giles.
- In "Once More, With Feeling," one of the secrets that's revealed is that Giles has feelings for Xander.
- Giles' visit to Xander in the hospital in Empty Places.
- Xander tries to get Buffy to forgive Giles for going behind her back and trying to kill Spike. Giles' reaction when he knows about Xander's involvement in patching things up between him and Buffy.

- After the collapse of Sunnydale, Giles gets mired in bureaucracy and red tape, trying to reconstruct the council of Watchers. Xander reminds Giles what's really important.
- Xander has grown up a lot while they've been off doing separate watcherly things. When they are brought back together, Giles can't stop looking at the confident, all grown up Xander - and Xander is pleased to have caught his attention.
- New Watcher Xander is having difficulties relating to his Slayer. He turns to Giles for advice.
- Days/Months/Years after the collapse of Sunnydale, Xander finally has a free day and a place to himself (hotel room, apartment, house, whatever). He plans to spend the day in his boxers vegging out and eating twinkies. Why is Giles suddenly knocking at his door?
- Xander comes back from Africa unexpectedly and asks Giles if he can stay with him. He's surprised to discover that Giles is dating a man, and even more surprised to discover he's jealous.
- Humor, established relationship, Giles and Xander traveling together (maybe to go to a former Scooby's wedding). The dynamic between them is affectionate, but still maintains some of the snarkiness/driving each other crazy that was so entertaining in the series.
- Awkward first date, London, post-Chosen.
AU
- Rupert Giles is living a quiet life as a grocer in England. When American Watcher, Xander Harris, turns up claiming Rupert's adopted daughter is a Potential, Rupert is dragged into a world that he didn't know existed.
- Xander ran away and fell into prostitution. Giles rescues him.
- Xander did join the army like he considered in S4. Now he's home on leave, and Giles is impressed by the changes.
- Giles is a mild-mannered librarian, who knows nothing of the supernatural world. He's curious about the hunky construction worker, who comes in regularly to research in the occult section.
