Is Bella going to continue to be so self-deprecating for the remainder of the series?

Yes. It is that awful! Read Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde or the Night World or Vampire Diaries books by LJ Smith for actually entertaining teen vampire lit.

At some point, I developed the theory that even though Edward *thinks* he's in love with Bella, she's actually correct in her ridiculously repetitive thought process and really he's only attracted to her because she is the first person he's ever met whose mind isn't entirely open to him.

Interesting theory. And do we ever see exactly HOW he sees her? I mean, she doesn't seem to have many redeeming qualities, and as expressed already, is a rather dull conversationalist.
