Thank you for your quick reply and those links! I promptly bookmarked them as well. Especially the last two might be useful for the second part of the gif, the one in the foreground, because there are not as many foreground frames as background ones. But with this I might be able to do some interesting effects that even match the prompt I'm working for. So thanks a lot for those. Unfortunately, creating my own palette for each frame would take ages and the file is currently 800 x 600 px (with a lot of colors in each layer) so I'm not sure it'll work at all. But I'll definitely experiment with it. Also, I might need to google how to resize the file as a whole, because working with it is getting slower and slower. *sigh*
