I do a lot of very stereotypically nerdy things, I know that. But I think the absolute zenith (or nadir, depending on how you see it) is that I had a conversation  in the Darmok language.

PS: I don't mean I used any personal context. We pretty much just used Darmok myth. No one else was around.

I've just been offered another gig in Boston, to start immediately after this one. It's another opera, but it's as far away from Rossini as you can get: a new work based on a surrealist story of the Axis occupation of Serbia. And it's with a really exciting company.

Here I am at Panera again, killing time before rehearsal. I'm eavesdropping on  pair of gentlemen sitting behind me. They're debating whether or not camping is inherently gay. I could smack them both. How can they even consider such a thing?

As it turns out, I only feel bad about spending four hours at Panera using their free wifi if someone else has been there longer than me. If I look up and I don't recognize anyone from when I came in, I have to leave.
