Quick question

Feb 17, 2009 00:35

If you had waited a long time for a story to update, would you rather get a shorter bit sooner or wait a little longer for a more substanstial bit?

Any answers to this might help me make up my mind on a dilemna.

It would depend, for me. So long as what I'm reading is quality, then I have no problem with a shorter bit or with waiting until the author feels ready to publish.

I would probably rather wait a bit for something more substantial.

Well, on the one hand getting small bits sooner would insure that you don't feel rushed by the need to get something to your readers. On the other hand, short bits sooner can be the cause of editing going too quickly and lesser quality work being produced. Personally, I find longer bits and a longer wait preferable because I feel like the author is taking their time and enjoying the writing process, rather than rushing to get any old thing out for the sake of reviews. I hope that helps.

Good, 'cause I know I haven't updated The Package in a while. But I've almost finished typing up the whole story. I've decided upon reading everyone's thoughts, that rather then divide it into two chapters, I'm just going to finish it in one slightly longer go. Then when that one's done, I feel like i can concetrate better on some of my other WiP. *hugs*

Depending on the length of time, I'd go for a short bit sooner, mostly because the only fic I'm still actually keeping up on updates so sporadically that I literally end up re-reading at least half the story with every new post, because I forget what's happened.

Thats a good point, something I hadn't considered. So true, when they are spaced out too far apart, you really can forget what was going on.
