crashoutside was teaching me how to play the piano today, just using chords - no sheet music. It was such a startling revelation that I actually could do it! I'm so excited to practice! I just wish we'd started earlier so I had more than a week to play around with the songs ( Read more... )

And yeah...that warehouse work...TOUGH stuff...very tough. ;-)

Maybe I can give you a quick hand on that Swahili:

Hello, how are you? is 'Habare' (ha-bar-ee)
I am fine. is Missouri (the spelling is wrong, but it is said like the place in the states- that's how I remembered it)

And that is all...pitiful I know but at least I remembered some of it!

:-) Thanks! Actually, I ended up finding my old notes and found out how to say: "This is a banana. The colour of the banana is yellow." - you know...useful phrases. So I brought a banana in to work just so I could have a prop and be really impressive. But I got really hungry before I had a chance to impress him with my amazing Swahili knowledge and I came *this* close to eating it. But the will power won out! (Though I ended up messing up the phrases somewhat, but it's the thought that counts!) ;-)
