There's that paint gizmo thingy that I think is already out on the market where you just strap this canister of paint to your waist, hold onto the nozzle, and just spray the paint on. It's fast, quick and easy. I remember helping my dad paint the apartment with a brush! Ugh it took a few days to complete painting.
I'm not sure what stucco or popcorn ceilings are, but our ceiling is textured. It's actually kind of nice.
I could have used a paint sprayer for the ceiling, but the roller was cheaper. :O) I do brushwork on the edges where the ceiling meets the wall, or the wall meets the baseboard, and then I just slap the rest of the paint up using a roller. The wall-roller part is the easy part. The brushwork usually takes two coats.
Like Fraize said, the living room ceiling looks like the top of a Meringue pie. And sometimes when I look at it it looks like little kids did hand prints in something mushy all over the ceiling. This type of texture doesn't cover easily when you use a roller.
In the basement the builder used that popcorn-type acoustic spray, which is like having little bits of styrofoam mixed in paint and shot onto the ceiling, so that the effect is popcorny. I think it's a cheap way to cover imperfections in the ceiling. And it's a pain in the a$s to paint as the stuff falls off and gets wedged in the roller, etc. Stupid. Absolutely stupid.
Thanks, Cai. We're really happy with the way the colors turned out. John painted his office Silver Hill, a sort of blueish gunmetal gray color. It was picked on the fly and it is one of the better colors of the batch. :O)
