Just about dead

Today I got to call one of the winners of our monthly sweepstakes at work and tell her she'd won a photography package worth $4800. Sadly, everyone is so skeptical nowadays that I'm not sure she actually believed me. She certainly didn't get too terribly excited. I think I was more excited about getting to break the news to her. She was just ( Read more... )

hey! i was feeling old because on facebook, carla was all talking about the faint. and i was like gee, i remember when i was her age and i was pissed because the faint played bimbo's 365 or whatever in san francsico but it was 21+ and i was a week away from turning 21. and then i was like, i am old.

but you shouldn't feel bad for not liking wet from birth. because it sucked.

also just say no to hair straightening!!!!

Oh man, yeah thinking about the fact that I met Carla when she was like...13 or something and now she's in college, is a little freaky. Are you younger than me? I think I was at that show at Bimbo's.

My hair is curly again today and I'm not convinced that I like it. :\

i am older than you, but only by a few months or maybe a year? (june 20 81).

i think later i found out that the show was all ages, i just assumed it was 21+ because of the venue.

oh man, i totally have that problem, too. i'm all like, "hey! this band that i totally like is playing a show except they've released like, 3 albums since the ones that i actually like and maybe i should go see them but maybe not..." and then i go and its all 16 year olds and the opening bands are all boring and i feel old and they never play any songs that i want to hear.

that's totally how it was when i saw les savy fav. i was sooooo excited and then everyone was 16 and annoying. i totally punched a dude, too, i was just like, "CHILL THE FUCK OUT OK? THIS ISN'T A FUCKING DROPKICK MURPHYS SHOW." and then i felt like a fucking chaperone or something. oh well.

Ya know, I still haven't seen Les Savy Fav, but now I'm thinking that maybe I missed my chance to actually enjoy them. Damn you, aging!!

i saw them when i was 22 and they weren't all that great! just a fat sweaty man running around yelling with guitars in the background.

i saw them like, 4 years ago, too, and it was TOTALLY different. it was right when inches came out, and its not that everyone there was "my age" per se, but definitely the 16 year olds that were there weren't being dumbasses. i had way more fun. then again, i was younger...

Trying to get bangs for the first time changed my life. I had these biglong sausage curls my whole life and decided to get bangs one day in high school, which no one told me wouldn't work with my hair type. I straightened them repeatedly (because of course they wouldn't STAY straight) for one whole day and then chucked the idea, leaving me where I am now, with short curly hair on top and longer curly hair on the bottom, which sounds like a mullet but isn't.

The point of this is: CURLY BANGS YAY!

Your hair is definitely a lot more curly than mine AND looks excellent very short! Bangs work on you! My hair often cannot decide if it actually wants to be curly or if it just wants to be a frizzy mess.

Do you use any products in your hair to make it not fuzzy, or does it just do that naturally?

who do you go to have your hair cut? get someone who specializes in curly hair! they exist!! any time someone tries to straighten your hair, you shove that straightener right up their butt!

The bang conundrum is the very reason I avoid getting my hair cut professionally! My home job might not be super even (which matters not with curly hair) but I've paid to be given bangs one time too many. Bobby pins!

Bobby pins are my friend already! Luckily the bangs aren't terribly short so it's pretty easy to pin them out of the way, but it would have been nice if she had asked before cutting them. I cut my own hair a few months ago, but I'm afraid to cut it really short on my own.
