Yeah, no, I don't think a sheepskin necessarily symbolizes anything.

The badger skin they sent me, now, that's another story.

well it had better not!!

badger skin? now that's just rediculous. why are they sending the letters on animal hides anyway?? it's cruelty to animals is what it is! i don't see how people are standing for it!

how is your summer going?

Oh, not at all bad. Been lazing about, mostly. With occasional breaks to fight the patriarchy, of course, but it's just been so bloody hot outside I haven't had the energy.

I bet Hermione Granger will organize a group to protest their outrage. You should really talk to her Susan.
I was going to organize a letter writing campaign and a petition but no one's shown any interest and it's not much of a campaign with only one letter and one signature.

We should make some signs and organize a protest for the first day of classes. OR! We should storm the dining hall during the Welcoming Feast and chain ourselves to the Head Table until they agree to end all animal skin based correspondence.

I don't think the animal skins really mean anything either, unless my cat-parchment was urging me to laze about all day eating tuna. Which might not be so bad, come to think of it.

But never surrender, Susan!

YES! that's exactly what they want, to lull you into a sense of complacency so they have an easier time forcing you into an apron and high heels and edging you into the kitchen for the rest of your life! you deserve better for yourself hannah.

i certainly don't plan on it! but i think it would be more interesting being a feminist if there were more things to protest

Well, god help the man who tries to push me into the kitchen. I hope he likes beans on toast for breakfast, lunch and dinner, because that's about all he's getting. Maybe I should learn though. It might be nice to be able to cook.

Perhaps you could start one of those societies to raise awareness? Like the ones Lavender and Hermione have.

My mum taught me how to cook last summer. She said that girls liked boys who know their way around a kitchen.

Susan, have you chosen your classes for next year yet??
I was just going to pick whatever Justin was taking but he hasn't done it yet!

I need to ask Hannah and Zacharias too...

p.s. I couldn't imagine you following ANYONE around like a sheep! I think the Hogwarts administration are just being prats this year.

i am taking arithmancy but i haven't spoken to anybody else about courses. but did you hear zacharias is joining the young witches club in an attempt to break down the gender stereotypes!! so i'm taking his spot in the young wizards club! i will infiltrate the enemy encampment, i will learn what it is to be "wizard"!!

that's a brilliant idea Susan!

I decided to take Muggle Studies. I think it will be pretty interesting to learn about them especially since the only muggle stuff I know is what I've picked up from the other Hufflepuffs.
I'm going to join the Future Healers for sure but be sure to let me know how the Young Witches and Wizard groups go. Maybe I'll check one of them out too.
It would be great if we could get all of the Hufflepuff boys to join the Young Witches! and maybe Hannah could join you at the Young Wizards!
We could even start sharing dorms to break down the gender barriers!

erm.

Susan,
Justin and I are going to start up a study group once classes start and we wanted to know if you'd be interested in joining? If you're still mad at me and don't want to I completely understand.
I am sorry. really.
Anyway, we're asking Hannah and Zacharias too.

I really hope you decide to join us.

Ernie

sure i'll join! OWLs are only two years off, at this rate!

It's alright. I was just worried you wouldn't speak to me anymore. I know how dedicate and strong your convictions are.

and uh, I think you're a little confused. NEWTS are coming up. We already wrote the OWLS last year remember? Hannah had to get a calming potion and I had to sleep on the common room couch for a week after Justin tossed me out of the dorm because all my studying was keeping him up at night...

oh i'm sorry, i've just had OWLs on the brain for the past couple of days. i didn't get quite as many as i had hoped, but i still think i did alright. poor hannah though, what happened during her transfiguration practical must have been awful. i mean they could have at least let her keep a flamingo as a souvenir for all she went through.

well lucky for you i am also compassionate and forgiving, har har. :)
