merging rasters

I taught one of my bosses something today. How funny is that?

I have been working on combining a bunch of rasters the easiest way I knew how - by using the raster calculator to say merge(grid1, grid2) and then having the output have a value of 1 and a value of NoData (apparently the NoData is the important bit to have here). I was at a new step in
