Are you familiar with NAAFA? The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance? http://www.naafa.org/
Unfortunately, neither side is correct. Our society does struggle with obesity, but our media-generated image of what a healthy body is like is wrong too... and gender-biased. You hear all about how Delta Burke or Oprah Winfrey or whomever is on a yo-yo diet, 'cuz... you know... the cellulite of women is *NEWS*! But do you ever read about how an act*OR* has "let himself balloon up to XYZpounds!"? No. Someone on the radio this morning pointed out that John Goodman had to *lose* weight in order to play Babe Ruth, and no one made a sound about it.
I find that article just sad... As a person who's struggled with weight (it goes up and it goes down)...more than likely she probably needed to deal with her depression, anger, grief or other issue that was more than a likely cause to her weight issues...or of course the obvious medical issuse of thyroid or other glandular problem. Truely a sad story either way.
