DH & I don't have to get up early now that DD is grown & gone, LOL! So we rolled out around 8:00 a.m., made some English Toffee flavored coffee and I made some cinnamon rolls. We watched the Hollywood Christmas parade on TV until DD got here. Her BART train was delayed because, tragically, someone decided to commit suicide at one of the stations. ( Read more... )

It's so good to hear you and DH, DD and sis in law had such a wonderful time. You needed it so bad. It was a time to enjoy and forget about the world outside.

Yeah, then we geared up for New Year's Day ham dinner with family over. Turned out o.k. but we found Mika's tolerance for too many people underfoot was about what we had that day -- seven! LOL! She did ok, but we have to put her on leash until everybody settles down. Just too much for her poor eye balls to interpret, not being able to hear. And she definitely HATES strange people bending over her to pet her! :(( DH, myself and Mika heaved a huge sign of relief all day Monday. All the prep work and partying was OVER and we could RELAX! :D We did take down the tree and decorations and put them all away. Funny thing, though, the place didn't look "barren" as has happened in previous years. I just thought it looked nice, to be back to "normal." Kind of a new normal, still, with Schwartzy's house missing and all his paraphernalia, but more "normal," our "new" normal, I guess. ;) The holidays in between with all the commotion and decorating did prove a good psychological break and pick me up from the gloom, so it's all good, I guess.
