Long, lonely night...

It was sooooo strange last night, with Mika gone to the vet hospital. :( I would look down from cooking dinner, expecting to see her lying there, "supervising." No Mika. Looked over to say goodnite to her, when I turned out the light after reading. No Mika. Got up this morning, automatically grabbing clothes and shoes, to take her out to go potty.

OMG just found this. You poor baby, and of course poor Mika, too! I've got my own prayers going out that she will pull through OK. Yes, we know death has to come eventually, but the knowledge is always coupled with the "But not NOW!" feeling too. I don't even like to think of how it will be when Squeak's turn comes. *hugs you hard*

And yeah, I sure do hear you about the health insurance. If it weren't for that ridiculously inflated situation, I could retire and go do good works. But I've got to stay...for the health insurance.

Things are better today...so far. Mika is only 3, so she's not old by any means. Although she's had too less severe episodes since we've had her, spread out a year apart, it doesn't appear to be a "chronic" condition. Vet says this happens with dogs; something doesn't agree with them, or something, and they never really find a cause. If Mika continues to improve, that'll be the end of it. Otherwise, we're looking at expensive tests, like ultrasound. :=O

Insurance seemed to have settled down and things went fairly smoothly (I added journal entry about today). I am fearful when DH retires. I heard horror news stories on the radio today about seniors having to pay hundreds of dollars for Rx's because the federal gov't plan isn't working (they should be paying only $1-$5). Our state (CA) is reimbursing seniors (so they can eat, pay rent, etc.) and going after the feds for reimbursement. I feel for seniors on these plans and Medicare. Mediocre and uncaring...care. :((
