Reminder to Emi: Poetry exists because rhyming narratives were easier to memorize in oral traditions and the medium basically became obsolete once the first form of writing was invented by some primitive squatting in the mud and poking at dirt with a stylus.

Tonight, if you were not already aware, is a total lunar eclipse visible from most of the US. For those of us in EST zones, the interesting parts of the eclipse will begin at 10:01 PM and end at 10:51. Lunar eclipses are totally safe to view without any form of optical protection and look pretty spiffy, especially if you have a pair of binoculars ( Read more... )
