Sometimes It Goes the Other Way

Jack swallowed his pride like a shot of battery acid and kept it down long enough to take L. Minimalist poetry, indeed! cynical21 October 17 2007, 19:19:40 UTC
You make me want to take the reams and reams and reams of verbiage that I seem to generate just to describe the look in Jack's eyes and shove them through the shredder because this little masterpiece demonstrates how powerful the well chosen word is - and how less really is more.

Brava, ma belle.

I couldn't bear it if I thought for one moment that I was the cause of excising even one word of your prose. You do me too much honor. You write like a gardener coaxing roses out of fertile earth. I write like a wood splitter and adore your poetry. Isn't it just too human that we should de-value our own gifts, while admiring the talents of others?

boy, one paragraph for Jack's response and a crystal clear depiction of why the card would be so welcome

and yay for Ennis sending the card just to say sorry, and Jack hearing the mating call across the continent

loving this inventive plot and vivid descriptions and strong but unsentimental emotions

thank you!

Your prose is so exquisite that I don't miss the dialogue at all.

When the card came, it was just the right time...

Yes. It's so often the case in life that timing can be everything. Thanks.

"He didn’t know what he’d find out there, but he sure knew what he was looking for."

I loved Johnny Horton, and his rendition of North To Alaska was wonderful and appropriate for this chapter, I think.

Thank goodness Jack is going to Ennis. Please let this be a happy and lasting reunion.

Wonderful chapter. My stomach just unclenched a little bit after reading the last chapter.
I'm looking forward now even more to the next chapter. : )
