Live journal

hi there. I thought I'd write a post on here, questioning the existence of live journal really. this may get a bit philosophical. see, I thought it was here so that people could write anecdotes of things that have happened to them recently/ that day (depending how often they go on here, in my case, not very!), good or bad, that may be of ( Read more... )

Wow.
I really don't know what to say to this. Except that I am not a sycophant. I care about Louise. I care about Rob, despite what you might think. I care about my mates.
Also, there are some things that only I can read.

Wow! People with sensible LJ heads on! This is great! You've all summed up something which I think gets forgotten far too often and far too easily.

I don't know if I've ever beem guilty of writing ill thought out angst without consideration, but I've always tried not to. Perhaps the odd exception if I've been drunk or feeling a bit RARG! myself, but those occasions have been very infrequent.

I actually agree completly, I think most of the LJ users I know in manchester do seem to use it as a way of bitching about people and spreading ill will. I don't think its very much of a coincidence that most of the people I knew and talked to in real life and got on with perfectly well who arnt added to my LJ, but are added to Lolly's havn't spoken to me so much since we split up ( ... )

I was tempted to see Scritti Politti on Monday, but it seemed to fall right in the middle of a whole string of gigs I was seeing, so couldn't quite afford the money for yet another. It is about time I heard their music properly, for the amount of time I've known about them it's surprising I have heard next to nothing from their back catalogue.

I have kept a journal since I was 13, and the Internet is the only place that is safe from Spuddy finding it. Yes, I use it mainly for whining, because I don't like talking to people in person about misery. But I have also met friends through communities and I use it to make arrangements (and I know usually who will see it and who won't!). Just a thought, how is someone posting on their friends-only LJ about what a dick someone is different from E-mailing or phoning their friends to tell them what a dick someone is?

Precisely. My dick-telling is just more efficient, logical and far cheaper.

Posting to your LJ is more like making a mass email to numerous recipients which socially is often seen as a much more direct assault on a persons character because the way its written will more consciously address some kind of audience. Most LJ posts of this nature seem to be more the person ranting at a non specific audience (even if the friends list is controlling who sees it ( ... )
