Hey all you locals! Would anyone like tickets to the Strawberry Festival this Saturday? I have three complimentary tickets left!
The competition I'm in is at noon on Saturday - I'm super nervous, but knowing there're people out there cheering me on helps. So please come, eat strawberries, enjoy the festival, and help me win this!!!

The California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard has a recipe contest (the Berry Blast-Off) wherein contestants submit their recipes and five semi-finalists are chosen to compete prior to the festival. Two finalists are then chosen to compete again at the festival itself, and the winner gets a four-night cruise.

I know I haven't posted in ages, and probably owe a big update. However. I am skipping said update for now in order to post about the awesomeness that is my dinner.

Cubed root stew!!! It's full of cubed root vegetables!! In honor of it being 3/3 today!!

I got my first really nasty cut yesterday while chopping some peppers :( I took off about 25% of my fingernail and a good bit of the nail bed underneath. Because I couldn't remember when I'd last had a tetanus shot, and because I didn't really know how to bandage this, I made M take me to the ER to get it fixed up. The single most annoying thing about cooking all the time is constantly getting little cuts and scrapes and burns on my hands. I usually have about five or six little painful spots at any given time, and then I go juicing lemons or rubbing spices onto something, or sticking my hands in hot dish water. Blah.
