While I was reading Writing Across Culture, Wagner and Magistrale talk about the need to develop a “new paradigm” (pp 13) and often our own paradigms will cause us to misinterpret or prematurely judge an entire culture based upon initial impressions. I found this particularly true and I thought back to my previous program The Ethical Entrepreneur

you make great points about gender in other cultures; especially about the pride that women have else where in certain aspects of life. that definitely plays into human rights in this country and how it influences their feelings of females' roles in other societies. the social value system as well plays a huge role in this concept. if women take pride in cooking every night for her husband coming home, and to see him satisfied afterwards, and her family. is she considered a "stay home mom"? (example). it's hard to say, or to distinguish the meanings of our terms that we use for such situations.
