Have you ever received feedback for a fanwork (fic, art, icon, wallpaper, etc) that you've posted on LJ? Ask your friends to take this poll! Inquiring minds (aka my mind) needs to know this stuff...for no reason.
Well seeing that most of my work is critiqued in a class/work setting I don't usually get positive feedback unless it's shouldered by a lot of critique and points. The few times I have put up art online, and have been commented on, I prefer when people actually critique and make suggestions for improvment. Otherwise, I like it when people try to get into the subject matter as well, delve into the topic per say.
On the 300 and Frank Miller in general. I actually am a Miller fangirl. I adore Batman: the Dark Knight Returns and from Hell and whatnot. So the fact that he's actually entrusting another one of his graphic novels to film makes me happy ( they'll never do DKR. At least not the way it was originally conceived). I like the look of it so far. I'm just hoping that unlike Sin City, where the noir style and violence seemed to overwhelm the film at times, that the graphic cinematography for arts' sake won't overwhelm the power of the film as a whole.
I think that's why my main online gallery community is Art Attack, not Deviant Art. On A.A. the members are -artists- and in order to join you need a portfolio and what not. The point of the community is really the critiquing aspect. On Dev.Art it's more like... here's my Gallery! Ain't it pretty

but not so much lately because c/p-ing "thanks! :D" seems ingenuine to me!
Very interesting point! Sometimes I do wonder though, when I get those one-word feedbacks if that person is even expecting me to respond and thank them. Like, if I ran around LJ posting one-word fbs to a stack of people, Receiving one-word responses in my email would just get a little tedious, wouldn't it. Hm! You raise a really good point, luv.
And yes, Wenham. So wonderful So dreaamy. Oh Daisy!!
I can't reply to everything with just like "Thank You :)" or whatever x) It feels too automated, and it'd get so repetitive after a while that I would actually NOT start feeling thankful for the comment because I'd just think "AGH gotta reply to this one now too.." you know? xD So I reply to people who ask questions or people who actually point out things that I really liked about the picture too and am glad that they noticed or something.. like a reference or a little detail I put in..I guess lol. Or if they say something LOLful.. yeah I answer randomly >_>. But I hope people know that I'm thankful for all comments even if I don't respond like a robot.. and vice verse-- that's what I expect when I comment on other people's stuff too.
I think that is valid--You get, like, how many comments on each post? If not in the triple digits, at least close--I kinda feel like it does depend on how many comments are left, I suppose--just for the sake of argument lets say you get 100 comments on your piece you post--you can't reply to all of the them without the hate. (And so buttfacemakani turns into Pink Lighting thusly) Lets say I get, like, five on mine--I kinda think I should reply to all those, or as many as I can without being robotic about it. By sheer workload to reply the point of view shifts and things.
I never thought I wouldn't want a million comments ^_^;;

I actually stopped commenting on your stuff when I saw it rec'ed in various places because I'd left comments on a couple of your pics and you didn't respond. So now I just look and keep quiet.
Whenever I can I try and reply to feedback- even if it is just a 'XD' this time, if I let them know that their time is valued, maybe next time they will have something else to say--even if they don't, if someone comes up to you and says 'I like that!' you don't ignore them do you? I try and treat it the same, yeah I'm not face to face, but I don't want to be rude- you took the time to look at something of mine and tell me what you think? I'll tell you how much that means to me--and it's a lot

I'm all about the give-and-receive feedback rule myself. If they took the time to say it, I need to take the time to thank them.
And!! The nicest thing about chatting during comments? Is the people you can get to know and learn to love because they are so YAYCOOLIO! *nudge nudge wink wink*

Psh, you know I'm fo' real :snapsnapsnap::
I'm glad we agree on the feedback! I feel pretty strongly about that because I love it so much XD I'm going to start leaving you comments that are just 'XD' 'cute!' and 'OMG HARRYPOTTERISGAY'
hah! oh, feedback. um, I haven't got any in a really long time, and I was always awful about replying to any of it (see: disgusting lack of ability to answer any email). that said, I don't know as people totally missing the point is a pet peeve so much as just something that used to happen a lot? I mean. I don't know.
oops, yes! I mean, I'm not posting anything really, so don't worry about having to friend/not - it's just a MUCH TRUNCATED friendslist because it was getting a little crazy and busy and I couldn't keep up.
