I think the term "politically correct," at least in the U.S., is used negatively, particularly in the case of right-leaning political sorts dismissing the left-leaning sorts...(I'm not sure if the same negative origins are true of the word "feminist," though some people use that negatively as well). Personally, I try to avoid the PC term; I think it's offensive itself, when usually the practice is about people trying not to be offensive.
