You won't find it in any bookstores yet, but the second draft is finished after about 1.25 years.  Time to start work on Book 2, Turning Point: East Archangel

I decided to splurge and get yet another game three years after it's popularity was eclipsed by its sequel.  Tonight I'll be instaling it on the 4 year old desktop that it has worked on in the past (already tried it on the 2 year old laptop that it doesn't want to work on).

We'll see if I get any sleep in the next few days.  :)

In the interest of those whose lives it doesn't affect, the revised plans are

I'm going tomorrow to purchase at least the plane tickets, and probably also the JR Pass... IF it will cover the reserved seats.  If not, it may be worth my while, as suggested, to buy the tickets, a-la-carte when I'm there.

So, I just realized that the spreadsheet I had set up to track my gas mileage was doing something wrong. I had neglected to expand the ranges in the cells that showed me the summary values when the data exceeded the original bounds that I had set up. Those of you in Japan may be pleased to know that I received my passport this past week, and besides it being an uncharacteristically atrocious picture of myself, it's kinda nifty. I think it will be ticket buying time in the not-too-terribly distant future.

Tonight, I single-handedly installed PHP, MySQL, and MediaWiki on my Windows XP Pro-based laptop, and got a real wiki running, with no knowledge of any of the above except what I could glean from error messages and google searches.
