College is not for everyone. For me 90% of what I learned at college was mostly learned out of class. It was the moving out part that made me learn, not identifying typefaces and who made them in what year. As for dealing with pretentious people, yeah, that really sucks about college. No matter what degree you go after you are going to deal with some serious dbags. Thought I do agree, the art major tends to attract the most amount of awful. I struggled so much when it came to seeing eye to eye with most art majors and a few design majors. I wish you the best with your new place and I hope that it does make you happier.
At least I don't regret giving the school in my hometown a try. I think I am a little more knowledgeable for it, even if what I learned is how little I really know about the real world. And boy, is it important to learn what you don't want to do with your education. My school also split design and art into completely different programs, so you either got whipped into drawing flawlessly from life only, or you get so much creative control that it's stifling in its own way. Like you aren't given anything to go on, and you're supposed to motivate yourself to make meaningful art? The divide between practical and conceptual people at ACAD is huge, and I just want a happy medium. Thanks! I am very excited for the move :>
