Each spice store we went into had a different blend, some very different from each other. We finally bought one when we liked the smell the best. They ground it up right in front of us. Unfortunately I don't remember what it looked like before grinding and the flavor is so complex that I have no idea what's in there beyond star anise and cumin!
I am sure we'll make our own, but I have no illusions that it will be as tasty. :)
I might do this as I find myself with a freezer full of lamb atm :) Literally.....full....of lamb. So far I've made a nice couple of stews but never really having cooked a lot of lamb before, always looking for new recipes :)
Hi, I'll talk to my friend at World Spice...see what he has. I'm sure he has it or will make it for you. I can't guarantee that it will be the same as you have since there are so many different ones. But I'm sure it will be good.

In addition to an online recipe for Ras Al Hanout, this article mentions a couple of Halal butchers with very high-quality sounding lamb: http://blogs.sfweekly.com/foodie/2009/01/tasty_lamb_for_less_sfs_halal.php
You can also buy Ras El Hanout online (e.g. http://www.zamourispices.com/raselhanout.html).

Before we had a tajine, we used a slow cooker for all of our Moroccan recipes. If you brown the meat first it works quite well.
