If human frality, cruelty and such are human traits then wouldn't someone who attempts to reject all that clearly not be "truly human"? Instead something more or greater perhaps?

wasn't meaning to suggest i was, just wondering if one who goes against the norm is the epitome of what is human or something different entirely...

It is generally impossible to avoid being human. Humanity has existed and acted in so many different ways throughout history that pretty much anything you do at this point is by definition human as well as entirely unoriginal. This includes "going against the norm."

This simple realization sometimes causes depression a la Existentialism and discourages spurious, idealistic glorification and self-rightousness.
