A Millenia has passed…

Hello again. It's been an interesting couple of weeks since I last posted. School has started again at SFState. Due to an administrative error, I was denied when I tried to register on my appointed day, due to "unpaid fees." So I call the Bursar's office, and the chick goes, "oh, I don't know what that means. That's so cray-cray Andy's at Calpoly. It's weird how time passes. I'm glad to hear the classes worked out alright for you. I finally caved and started the first book of the dark tower. It's been a little slow but I read this great line and have been hooked ever since. It was something like "...the no-color of rain or dust." He creates such beautiful imagery sometimes. I'm excited for you and the jamming thing sounds rad. Don't feel too bad I've still never seen a show at the Fillmore.

Oh yeah, King is tha King! People give him so much shit, but I think his writings are more "real" than any of those in the so called literary cannon. That's my humble opinion. Yeah, he creates very vivid images, and he uses so much symbolism and metaphor, irony and allegory. It's so epic, literally and figuratively. Besides, the first line of The Gunslinger is like the greatest way to kick off a story, ever. Once you're done, you should read most of his other books to get an appreciation for the depth and scope of his work…I could go off for days, as you know (and have heard me do), so I won't say too much here.

after i read Gunslinger, i just marveled at the almost romantic way King uses words. His affection for his craft is the most apparent out of any other writer i have read. you get the sence with most other writers that they are in love with their talent, which is fine but in the end I think King basks in the finished product and not necessarily his ability to produce.

so far, the first book in the Dark Tower is prolly my least favorite so dont feel bad for thinking its a little slow. but regardless even after i finished and was like "yeah that was ok," i suddenly found myself NEEDING to start the next book asap. dont ask me why. it really snuck up on me.
