I've heard so many stories about their loans, credit card interests, unpaid credit card bills, etc... but then again it might be my skewed impression.For some, it is probably a stereotype... For others, it's probably quite accurate. To me, carrying a balance on a credit card doesn't make sense, unless the interest rate is ridiculously low (like 2% or lower). However, I've never heard of such a low interest rate. Instead, I've read of double-digit interest rates... Why would anyone carry a credit card balance if that's the case? If there's a monthly rate of 10% (I'm just making this up), and you carry a $100 balance, that's $10 you'd have to pay extra... To me, $10 is a lot of money, even though we've seen a lot of price inflation lately ( ... )

Commentary Part II: I guess Uggs could be warm but they just look so weird. I never saw any appeal in them. :S

Commentary Part III: I agree. Why spend lots of money on weapons that harm, rather than trying to find an alternative solution that will save the planet? Liquid wood does sound interesting. Hopefully it will be used more widely in the future.

I'm probably being unfairly judgemental, but my guess is that people aren't wearing Uggs for the warmth factor. They are wearing them for the style/popularity factor. If I didn't feel that way, I wouldn't say anything. I'm known for being a sweatsuit junkie, which is far from stylish or elegant... but for me, that's not the point. The point is they are versatile and comfortable... in a word, "practical". :}

I agree. Why spend lots of money on weapons that harm, rather than trying to find an alternative solution that will save the planet?This seems like such a basic question, yet people can't get along. For centuries, we haven't gotten along. It's kind of embarrassing for our species, really. :( Maybe it's easy for me to judge since I'm living a life of relative comfort without having to worry about much except holding onto my job. I don't know... Even then, I have a hard time seeing a circumstance where it's worthwhile destroying other people's lives to get a point across. For example, if I start giving you a hard time and ( ... )

I may be just a pacifist but I really do hate conflicts. Even "small" ones. For example if two of my friends were having arguments, I would feel really stressed even though I'm not involved.

The conflict in the Gaza strip is saddening because civilians make up most of the casualties. When two sides fight, it affects bystanders as well.

P.S: I think in the new millenium, we're past the point of military supremacy. We're supposed to strive for a world without war but that's just utopia.

Well, it's good for people to get along. I don't think it's realistic to think everyone will always agree... However, I do think it should be realistic to expect people to disagree in a civil way... not drop bombs and missiles on people to get a point across.

This is a good point... 21st Century War is going to continue to get scarrier as the world's population grows. Conflict isn't isolated anymore. You can't just have a battlefield that's isolated. Rather, the battlefield is someone's backyard. :(

we're past the point of military supremacy

That's also a good point. The USA is supposed to be advanced in terms of technology, but our country takes years to fight wars since the battlefield has changed. When the world has enough nukes to destroy humanity several times over, military supremacy doesn't mean too much anymore (aside from the standpoint of foolishness).
