[Greek]

In speaking with an associate, we grew curious to see how many in the city could read and write this language. I suspect at least a few have some basic grasp considering how much it is used in texts.

[added a short time later after some curious consideration]

[English]

Are there any other languages known in this city?

Bavarian is not one I managed to pick up. I know the more standard German, though I have considered traveling back that way. Perhaps I will make an effort to learn more of the languages of the area.

I've mostly seen Latin used in science, not so much religion.

Hopefully you're joking. That or you have never come into contact with Christianity.

I did not pay much attention to it.

Obviously.

Masses are completed in Latin. Their books and their bible are in Latin. All priests have to learn it. How did you miss that?

Most of my time was not spent in cities, where I assume such things are more prevalent.

You assume wrong.

[long thoughtful pause]

More prevalent than where I did spend my time.

Your time was spent outside of Europe? Given Christianity more or less covers all of it and it's the only recognised religion outside of Balfour.

Some of my time was. Even within I spent most of it dealing with those that likely shunned the religion, or were shunned by it.

So basically you're telling me that in however many years of touring Europe you never came into contact with Christianity?

I never said I'd not come across Christianity.

I said that I'd not noticed how prevalent it was and that most of my studies in Latin leaned towards science.

To come into contact with it would show you how prevalent it was. Not to mention, many of the great scholars have been men of the cloth. You must be very dull indeed to have missed that.

Interesting that you would assume someone is dull simply because they did not spend a lot of time paying attention to some religion.

Given its influence on the world

[Filter: Sveinn]

and that you pretty much outed yourself there as either an Other or an Other-lover with your explanation that you've spent a good deal of time with those 'shunned by Christianity'

[Filter: Public]

I would say it would take a very dull person not to notice it.

[very long pause before he responds]

I do not bear any hatred towards Others.

Do you?

I am not so stupid as to reveal my opinion on this sensitive subject to a person I have only written to and know nothing about.
