i have that problem with my contacts too - i need to go for my 2 yr check up cause i need a new prescription cause i'm going blind :(

I go and visit my mom.. ALL THE TIME. It used to be every other weekend & the weekend I didn't go to her house we would meet half way for lunch or shopping or something. Now I visit her, uh, EVERY weekend. A lot of people think that's weird and they are the ones who NEVER go see their family. I think you're right, it's not just an asian thing, but it does depend on the type of family you grew up in/with. I personally, was very close with my mother.. she was like my best friend, so i cannot understand people/parents who don't mind if they don't go/come home every so often.
