butternut squash ravioli

Oct 03, 2008 10:11

I made ravioli for the first time ever yesterday! It wasn't that hard, but took a lot of steps. I roast a squash for V every 2-3 weeks as it is, but butternut squashes are enormous and I don't like to give her food that's more than 2 weeks old, so she always gets half, and then I use the other half for Richard and I.

Sounds good! Our next project is making homemade ravioli. The boys are looking forward to it.

How do you warm up the food for V?

I put 2-3 cubes in a bowl in the microwave for 30-40 secs, then stir it a bunch cause part will be hot but then there'll still be frozen chunks in it :) I make it room temp or just slightly warmer.

That's how I do it too. I never microwave bottles so I started to heat the food up the same way I'd do a bottle by heating some water then setting the bowl of frozen food in it until it was thawed. But I've been lazy the last week or so and have been putting it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Or if I remember, I'll take a few cubes out the night before so they are thawed enough to mix up in the morning. Jacob likes his fruit kinda on the frozen side so that's good for mornings. I think it feels good on his gums. He's been chewing a LOT lately.

Oh wow he's so small and already teething. . I guess V is the unusual one cause it seems all the babies I know get teeth "early" :) V doesn't even have ONE yet (she's over 9 mos old.)

That fence you linked to is nice but we're too low on funds right now :( It's so very expensive :(

It's a lot of work but worth it if you already have at least a part of it ready, like the broth or roast squash.
