It turns out that August wasn't as horrible as I was predicting. This is due, for the most part, to the following:

1. The Glacier National Park trip, which culminated in a 12-mile (round trip mileage) hike to Grinnell Glacier. It was quite enjoyable, if tiring.

Uh....yay for 85 MPH (okay, limit of 75 MPH).

Thanks to my grandmother, I managed to lose nearly two hours of sleep that I was counting on before setting off today. That wasn't a good thing. Tomorrow I'll be leaving for a road trip to Glacier National Park, and will be back in California next Friday (the 18th). I will, however, still be on the Internet, so don't think I'm actually going away in any sense of the term that actually matters, unless you're one of all zero of the people that read this and live in Orange County.

So apparently Dell laptop keyboard components are very hard to pop back in when they come up. So if, say, your left control key (needed for opening new Firefox tabs, switching between FF tabs, cut, copy, paste, and WoW pet control) gets dislodged, it's hard to get it back working again. Fun....

So I haven't updated in a while. There are a lot of things buzzing around in my head, but I haven't been able to organize my thoughts enough to write coherently about them. Instead, here are some nice shiny bullet points!

One of the reasons I love Harvey Mudd so much is that the professors are approachable and you can see them as people, not as distant God-like beings. For instance, tonight Professor Martonosi, who's the new Professor-in-Residence at Mudd, threw an ice cream sundae event in her apartment (which ended up moving to the Sontag lounge for size reasons ( Read more... )
