that angers me to no end. and here i sought out the nearest Red Robin in LA when I first came here so that, upon your visit, we would be able to find a common ground that felt timeless, placeless, and just HOME. sadly, that will NOT be Red Robin any longer. i am joining you in your restaurant-style jihad against the evil Red Robin corporation. we'll just have to find a new home restaurant to call our own -- one with Mt. Dew, cheesesticks, hot waitresses who give us free drinks (we are the reigning kings of that, regardless of restaurant), and over all MC2 and Mason-ness.
Max and Erma's has been working really well for me, they have the fantastic skewers AND Mt. Dew, if nothing else. Do they have those out in LA? Thanks for joining in the jihad...maybe we should start picketing. I'd say we should also throw Red Paint on the buildings, but they are pretty much red already.
sadly the nearest Max and Erma's would be in Missouri! i guess we'll just have to scout out LA for some Pepsi products and quality cheesesticks. plus, Max and Erma's has such a great history, too: how could anyone forget the cheese-skewer debacle that left Nick with our leftovers?
Damn Max and Erma's LOVES The midwest. I was going to of course envoke the Cheese Skewer incident that happened the Night we watched Fright Night, I mean that's half of why I love that place so much.
I'm sure we'll find some place cool, sometimes it's better to do a hunt than to go to the same old place anyway.
see, there's only one thing i ever at there (the only thing i could eat there) was the vegetarian rice bowl. the last time i was there i ordered it as usual, but on the bottom there was a big piece of bacon with a ton of fat on it. i got it for free, but was still really disgusted. that place was alright, but i think i've been there maybe 10 times my entire life. so, i really don't care if i ever go back.
every red robin has the "downriver" vibe to it. including the ypsi one. it's basically 2 steps up from denny's, and only by quality/price of food.
you're right on about the downriver vibe, the two where I had the bad experiences were in Westland and the other in Royal Oak, but once you're through those doors you may as well be in Southgate.
I don't think I've been to Red Robin's since hearing about that finger in the salad incident. I guess that means I'll be joining that boycott. And I'd be happy to go to Max & Erma's anytime, just as long as I don't get the last cheese skewer on all 4 skewers.
Now that Mason's in LA, you should not only get some decent skewers, but a whole skewer to yourself! We'll have to go there sometime soon, maybe even get some disc golf in before it gets any colder.
i've been inadvertently boycotting red robin, 'cause my asshole ex works there. apart from the cheesesticks and mt. dew debacles, he really puts the 'jackass' in 'red robin.' so i too, join you in your fight against red robin.
also, i think perhaps nate and i might go to the edison price premiere, unless he decides that band practice should runneth over. hooray? i haven't seen you (or talked to you) in forever.
This post has been so rewarding that sooo many people ALSO hate the Red Robin. Maybe we should form a group that burns them down.
That would be SOOO rockin' if you guys came to the premiere! I haven't seen you in forever and I promise it will be good Halloween fun. Vampires followed by Air Hockey is a combo that can't be beat.
On a sadder note I saw all your posts about your dog, and I wanted to express my condolences. Nothing is worse than losing a pet. I'm sorry.
He did cry a little...for the full the post about Aaron crying...then me holding him and crying myself followed by soft-touch scalp massages go to my other journal:
Well my words will be more than happy to give you a, let's say, "Sample," but don't stare at them, they get nervous...then we'll just need to find a dictionary to be a surrogate mother.

you're better off not going there anyways.
