Okay, I wrote this entry this morning in a fit of anger and just made it private because I didn't think anyone would be reading it anyway (its ridiculously long), and honestly I didn't want to piss anyone off with my sweeping generalizations. This is all very obvious stuff that's been said time and time again by almost everyone, but its just been ( Read more... )

i don't think it's being hypocritical [maybe it is, who knows, i haven't seen you in years] it just seems coincidental(sp?). why should you start to consider yourself one of them just because you are similiar to them? they like it for the 'scene', you like it for the music, i think that's what should matter anyway. and really, so what if you name drop and such, it's not like it's not fun. it seems like they live off it, feed off, thrive on it. you just seem to enjoy it. i mean, really why shouldn't you? and even if you ARE being superficial, everyone's been like that at some point. you seem genuine, even stuck in the superficial atmosphere you describe ( ... )

hahaha
well thank you. i totally agree that similarities don't make you like anyone else really. especially stuff like that.
i would hope people atleast are not conciously focusing on fitting into whatever "scene" they are into, atleast then they're not mopey and miserable about it.
i LOVE ghetto lower eastsiders. seriously.
we really should hang out! i'm free all summer, so let me know if you want to go do something.

i enjoyed that entry! i mean, i know what you mean and shit, i hate those people too, but i am jealous of them, but i hate them, but i want to do them.
oh and kind of related but not really: i am starting to hate EVERYONE talking about how much they love franz ferdinand. i mean it was cool in the beginning cause it was this great music that everyone enjoyed, but now it's like just a name, just a brand that people use to identify themselves as "fun loving hipsters" or "non-emo scenesters" or whatever. the end!

ha, i'm glad you did. i'm totally love/hate about those people too. i have a huge crush on one of the guys i mentioned in this post, so duh.
and yeah i know what you mean about franz ferdinand. i'm sure you saw they have a show coming up. i can't decide whether or not i want to go after reading your entry about their last show, as well as others. everyone seemed to be mentioning, if not getting into full on arguments, about how it was "dancy hipsters" vs "resistant hipsters." plus, its at ROSELAND, what the hell?!

dude, i am not going to that. roseland is a clear-channel-owned conspiracy, all your money goes to republicans, and it is expensive, and plus i already bought tickets for radio 4 at bowery the same night.
my opinion re: the volume show, the hipsters were not even the ones who annoyed me. it was the kids who wanted to be hipsters, but didnt get it, so they were just acting... like girls. and standing still, freaking out about how much they love ff, and swooning over the UGLY ASS singer. GOD JUST SHUT UP!

i agree with you, on both points, but i find myself doing many of those things. i've got an ipod, and when people mention spin, i go, "i don't read spin." i feel so...exposed.

haha, but right, i do it all too. it feels silly complaining about something you, yourself are a culprit of. but i'm sure if i were given a video tape of a day of my life, i would totally hate myself by the end of it. then again, its all part of the era you're living in. i guess its the same things as people who were kids in the 80's hating what they wore...or something. i totally got off track here.
