We took a break from my Outdoor Trip Leader class today to have a snowball fight. It was awesome despite the huge amount of mud I tracked back into the classroom.

Post-mid-semester break depression set in yesterday as I realized that I have a lot of work to do in what remains of the semester. But my mood is turning around and stepping outside to see the many bright colors of the trees helps very much.

Two ID cards in four days have been lost through my amazing skill.

Otherwise life is good and college is fun as a second year student.

I just went to a party for the fiftieth anniversary of a couple in my Meeting. That is a long time to be married. They raised five children which in many ways is even more impressive.

A year ago I started college with three weeks of hiking in mountains of Utah. This afternoon as I helped about 50 new Earlham students check out backpacks and sleeping bags for wilderness adventures, I enjoyed their excitement and nervousness for the approaching back-country experiences and the school year to come. This afternoon was beautiful. The weather was like a lovely fall day, cool in the breeze and warm in the sun. But the trees were that of spring with sunlight greens and grass that just begs to have people lying all over it. I will thank two energetic dogs for forcing me to enjoy it so that they could have a walk.

There were the most incredible thunderstorms last night.
