[ Alright. So, I've concluded that I'm definitely not in Japan. Or, well, it doesn't really seem like I'm anywhere. Which would mean that Ryuk did in fact kill me and I'm in the realm of the Shinigami. And that means that anyone else that's here must also be a previous user of a Death Note, and they're sharing a similar fate

Th' supernatural doesn't exist.
[So his memory was all shuffled too. Hm.]
Yer just outside th' apartment buildin's. Anyone here will jus' tell ya ta find an empty room an' claim it as yer own.

And I'm not entirely sure what I believe yet. You seem to have been here for longer so if anything it'd be more beneficial if you told me what you believe instead.

Even then whatever I tell ya, people will say th' opposite.

I'd hope you'd be able to trust my judgement skills concerning which belief is more accurate.

America believin' he gave rabies ta another man through means other than saliva an' still lives ta tell th' tale. [That was just part of the story.] Thinkin' his blood would be th' cure ta th' rabies he spread.

To be honest, I wonder just how long it takes before the effects start showing up.
[ Ah, and now the tables are turned. ]

People have told me they've been here anywhere from two days ta two years. An' it's not uncommon ta go missin'. On occasion those who disappeared are returned usually a week later. It's a bit complicated.
Also those who have been here fer longer durations of time don't appear ta believe much different than th' ones who have been here fer a couple months.
Give or take th' few who lost all sense.

So you've concluded that the ones who have been here for too long are broken spirits who merely accept the answers handed to them rather than residents who have just been around for long enough to know the ropes?
That would explain why you're making your own investigations. I can respect that.

That's th' thing. It's th' long-term residents who told everyone else what they already know. Just about everyone accepts what they're told with little ta no resistance.
I also asked if there were any native residents livin' in this town, an' I was told there wasn't any. Th' population you see here is compiled strictly of those who were taken from their homes an' brought here. Th' common belief is ta rebuild th' town. However, most of th' residents here don't qualify fer it.

To be honest I'd like to figure out the truth behind this place as well if you'd like to pool resources. I obviously haven't been here for long enough to be of significant value just yet, but I've always found that investigations work better in groups.

[Usually he doesn't need a group, but it would be beneficial to expand it a little and see what happens.]
Just as long as ya don't go bein' delusional like th' rest of 'em.

First I think we should look into those week-long disappearances more. Has anybody recently been abducted?

People constantly go missing, it's hard ta keep track of them all, especially if yer only familiar with a small group of residents here.
What I have been told is that if they do make a return, they claim to have been sent back ta their home. Even say that several months or years have passed whereas only a week has gone by here.
There is no visible pattern ta speak of. All of th' abductions are random, an there's seemin'ly only a 50/50 chance th' ones abducted from here are returned.

And that seems to answer a lot already.
Unless you have reason to doubt what they say as true, and if you're still unwilling to accept the concept of time travel, even though I'm apparently either five years in the future or past the way I see it, then we can at the very least conclude that these abductions are not for any sinister purpose, correct?
At least, for the ones that return.

They don't always come back a week later. Sometimes a month later, months, maybe even a year later. I've been informed that sometimes they bear no memories of their first stay here if they disappear fer longer than a week.
On th' flip side, th' ones who who have been sent back claimed they never remembered their stay here when back at home, but when they return here suddenly all their memories return with them.
The culprits motives are not yet clear.
