For me, I think this ranks slightly ahead of Rabid, mainly because I found myself enjoying Ollie towards the end for the first time since Hex. Yes he's an ass, but he's starting to face his problems and I had to appreciate Clark lending a helping hand to someone so clearly in need. Its a lovely sign of maturity when contrasted with his treatment of Lex way back in Bound. And I really enjoyed the Clois apology too - one that was honestly given and freely accepted. The absence of angst was totally refreshing.
I can definitely see where you're coming from with Ollie, but as much as JH is selling it, I'm not quite onboard yet. I'm having such a tough time with his scenes with Clark this season.
But yes, the Clois scene at the end was a definite highlight for me too.
//until I see him really reach out to Clark and be a true friend I'm not buying the redemption arc. Ollie still seems to show no remorse for his actions in Doomsday.//
This is exactly it. We seem to be getting hints of his guilt towards murdering Lex, having a hand in Jimmy' death/davis saga, but what about specifically the heinous action of literally stabbing Clark in the back? It's like he's either forgotten it or is choosing not to view it as a big deal. I'm not sure which is worse.
//I totally forgot about fake!Lex until I read it here. Bad move show.//
The Lex issue aside, Oliver practically left Clark for the dead in 'Doomsday.' I don't see how the show can just ignore this :( That was such a disturbing scene.
I like that Lois' monster truck fascination, which is canon, is made canon here too. But her actually showing up in one? Really? It was so unnecessary and actually made her look more than a little silly. As was that whole outfit she was planning for the date. It did seem OOC & over the top. And since Lois showed up, why have her suddenly change her mind & walk away from the story? Didn't make sense.
I liked that we saw the return of Toyman in this one and the actor is kind of a hoot. One of the parts of the ep I did appreciate that his story wasn't just cut off at the end, and there's not only a hint for him to return (and that's what Toyman can be, a pesky, recurring nuisance) I like the actor a lot - It would be great to have an episode where Toyman sets traps all over the city & Clark has to run around deflecting them.
And you made it sounds like you wrote a novel about this ep. Actually, I think you did a great job of summing it in a very informative way. Which is why you rock
( ... )
//This is never going to stop being an issue with me. We have Ollie beating himself up over Lex and Jimmy (rightfully so of course), but not Clark himself?//
Exactly. I can't imagine why/how the writers are failing to realize the magnitude of this. ::shakes head::

As soon as I saw that in the ep I cringed.

Yes, now that you mention it, it was a tad OOC for her to do so.
