"The truth?!" I shout,
"You can't handle the truth!"
I come off as rude, perhaps,
But it's hard to remain couth.
Why seek humdrum reality,
When you can dance on a wheel,
Listening to a cat play a fiddle,
Two-stepping with Holden Caulfield.
Have yourself a martini
Shaken by James Bond.
Laugh as you watch She-ra
Flirting with Don Juan.
Ophelia and Hamlet,
Romeo and Juliet, too,
Are all alive and well
Traveling with Doctor Who.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Are actually nice guys.
If you see them in your wanderings,
Tell them Darth Vader says, "Hi."
Batman and Robin
Are hot on the trail,
Of a clock watching rabbit
Who says he's late as hell.
Ahab doesn't have to worry here,
Moby's no longer in his head,
Queequeg's already got him,
Flask's cooking him instead.
It's much better to remain here
Where things always end right,
Than to pull yourself away,
and watch the news at night.
