Oh, that book! I got it from the library, got totally drunk on it, but didn't manage to finish it before it was due. Jeff went and bought me a copy so I could keep reading. Oh, man. So good.

I first got Winter's Tale out of the Eugene Public Library years ago, probably before I knew how to delay my holds so as not to get them all at once and be unable to finish all the books before they were due, which is to say, I started it but totally didn't get sucked in enough to finish it... this time, it owns me, and I like it. A lot.

Yeah, I really liked Winter's Tale. There was something very magical about the writing. I read it when I was in Baltimore (which is more like an old New York)

The author is clearly having SO MUCH FUN with this book, or at least that's what shines through to me. It reads like a labor of love on a lot of levels, and magic is indeed a good word to describe it. Yay for the wizardry of words that put goosebumps on my skin and giddy smiles in/on my head. Every now and then I look up from reading it on the subway and wonder how long I've been grinning like an idiot. And then I keep reading, because who cares?
