Some members liked the idea of having a kink meme/comment fic meme on got_exchange, especially since the other ASOIAF/GoT kink memes are fairly dead at the moment. (It's only posted on the mod account journal because I don't want anonymous comments on the exchange comm.)

uh, hi, I read that prompt and this came from I don't even know where. I hope it fits the bill!

By the time he reaches the first port after leaving the Iron Islands, he knows that his father has officially labeled him turncloak.

By the time he’s in the Riverlands, whoever recognizes him looks the other way. How can you trust someone who turns their back on his own family?

What makes him laugh bitterly is that if he had stayed and fought his father’s war, everyone from the North onward would be calling him turncloak.

Short of his father accepting the offer Theon had brought him, there was no way that it wouldn’t end badly whichever choice he made.

If he had any faith left he’d pray that he made the right one, but he isn’t so sure of that. He has technically turned his back on his own family, and he wishes it had been easy. It hadn’t been, not when he has spent the last ten years anticipating his return to a home that in the end turned out colder than Winterfell ever was. When he’s inside the room, Robb locks the door before turning towards him. Theon expects disappointment - there isn’t. He looks… something close to relieved?

“You must have heard everything by now,” he says, trying to make himself sound as if there was no difference to him.

“I have,” Robb replies, moving closer. “I’m sorry.”

“You’re what?” Theon almost snaps.

“It was your idea. It was a good idea. And I also - I sent you because I knew you would have wanted to go home.”

“I did. Maybe I shouldn’t have,” he replies. “It was useless, anyway. He had already decided to go to war on his own,” Theon replies. He wants to vomit - if he hadn’t been a turncloak before he’s being one now. But he can’t help it - if he hadn’t gone at all and he still was a hostage, and if his father had gone to war nonetheless ( ... )

throwing away a kingdom that no one wants him to rule for the way Robb looks at him doesn’t seem like a bad bargain.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! I'm not really into requited Theon/Robb (I totally like the idea of Theon moping after him and Robb having no idea), but this is kind of adorable. Also, it will stop MANY BAD THINGS HAPPENING so I side with it.

Thank you, glad you liked it! :D my feelings on that pairing tend to change from one day to the other (not counting that in the show I find them a lot more shippable in not-platonic terms when in the books my feelings go from platonic to pining to various the shades in between) but when I read that prompt it didn't want to be depressing and I just went with it. And yeah, now if only it had gone like that maybe we'd have saved some tissues..

This was lovely!!! O how things might have been if Theon wasn't a disloyal douchbag!!!!
I love how Robb comes across in this as well, very intone with his character.

Aw, thanks! I'm really glad that you liked it and that they felt IC :) and lol if only. Though in that case I usually think, how things might have been if Theon's dad had just accepted that deal. Siiigh. *breaks out tissues*

So this is the second time I am reading this and it's just wonderful. All new to the fandom and really new to fanficdom(got sucked in last night),and this fic is not helping(lol). By the way any decent Robb/Theon recs?(being new, I'm asking around).

But aw thank you so very much! :D I'm really glad that you liked it. And hahahahahahaha Robb/Theon is a pit of doom, once you start you can't stop even if you want. ;)

And oh, I -do- have recs for THIS one, since at least it gets fairly written, but I was putting together some Theon recs for another friend so would that be okay if I linked you the LJ post whenever I get around to do it? It should be fairly soon. Mostly because I'm not sure it's going to fit in one comment. ;)
