... really?

Aug 10, 2012 22:40

Getting in the car after the gig up the Rhondda tonight:
Me: "So, what did you think?"
Mam: "It was alright."
Me: "Oh. Cheers."

Paying for petrol at the supermarket Mam works for:
Mam to colleague: "Yeah, on our way home from the concert. It was fabulous!"
Me: *eyetwitch*

So yeah. That happened.

*hugs back* I don't think she even realised what she'd done, to be honest. And if I called her on it I would of course be completely out of line :-p

.... it's like she's worried you might think she likes you or enjoyed something you did, or something. Good lord.

Come on G, let your daughter know how proud of her you really are!

Your dad would, I hope, have been more forthcoming. But I think you've always been closer to him than to Gill.

Should add that I'd have been at the concert if I hadn't had a meeting to go to elsewhere. I take it you were a complete success?

It's hard to say how Dad would react - sometimes he's equally non-commital, other times he will take the time to talk about and analyse things like this. Like, for example, I imagine he would maybe tell me if any performers stood out for him, or he'd fill me in on the acts that I didn't get to see 'cause I was backstage. Dad and I do manage to talk though, I only really have a conversation with Mam if there's a subject she wants to discuss. She usually only joins in on the talks with Dad if he's yet again harping on about Gibraltar, since I suppose the stuff he and I talk about hold no interest to her.

That's okay about the meeting :-) And I think it was a complete success - they were panicking about ticket sales in the lead up (like, they'd sold about a handful) but on the night they sold more than they'd anticipated and we actually had to scrap plans to hold an invasion into the stalls in the finale 'cause the back rows suddenly had people sitting in them! lol!

In some ways your parents are an odd match. Lovely, the pair of them - but an odd match :)
