Why is it when London gets some snow the whole world comes to a standstill?? We got snow here about a month ago, not as significant as this but enough to be trouble.
...However while everyone struggles to cope with the snow the loyal band of posties across the country go out there and get the post out to the country!!

It doesn't always. It did fine when we had snow in October. Today's chaos was because (assuming the BBC isn't telling porkies) we haven't had snow like this in nearly two decades. Certainly it was a good six inches deep on our windowsill at the office - one of the things we did before we were sent home this morning was open the window and stick a ruler in to check - and it carried on snowing for a good few hours after that.

Not on our street they didn't. None of the flats in our house had post today, as evidenced by the (lack of) footprints that weren't mine or A's when I came back home.

Us northern posties are far better than the southern softies that are employed down there!!! It took me a lot longer to get round, but get round I did!!! Not that I am pleased with myself or anything... ahem!! As far as I am aware nothing locally failed and are you going to get anywhere more adversely affected than the peak district??
