Self-realisation Sunday.

May 20, 2007 19:01

Life is starting to come into focus, mentally, and the last week has seen me feeling a little more 'awake' and thoughtful each day. This was handy as it contained many wonderful experiences :-)

Read on for stuff I've mainly posted for my own benefit, but which you're welcome to snoop on.

Little bit of bar-stool self-analysis. )

I thought it quite dour and mean-sprited and didn't take to it well :/

Not that it wasn't a good book...maybe :-)

I'm kinda doing that challenge after seeing your many many posts, and since I'd already been on a major reading bender.

It's good to get the other stuff out there too. Y'know, life. Things seem a measure better than they did a year or so ago. This is good :-)

The man who loved only numbers

Cloud Atlas

I'd recommend both of these. And more books that I can't think of right now.

Ta chuck. They're now on the (largely fictitious) list.

I'd recommend all of the above if you haven't read them, but particularly The Time Traveller's Wife because it's beautiful.

The Man Who Loved Only Numbers is a biography of Paul Erdos, the mathematician, so it's a rare non-fiction one for you.

I've read most of the list - I kept thinking of books I'd recommend to you, but they were all on the list, so I'm fairly sure that you'll like the two I recommended.

The Evil Cultists are reading The Time Travellers Wife at the minute, and the meeting will probably be on 12th June if you want to come along and add to the discussion.

Hmmm

Having read the book I love it so I'm quite tempted to crash. Unfortunately I also know with everything else I have on that week I don't think I have a chance in hell :-(

"Did I make you read anything by Mary Doria Russell yet, by the by?"

No, no you haven't. I'll finish Enduring Love then come raid your collection again, 'kay? It's not much of a challenge given Watership Down is one of my all time faves and The Time Traveller's Wife maded me bawl. Kleenex you say?

Yeah. I think we need to atone for Pirates III with The Lives of Others or similar. Ooh, look! Shiny Potter movie!
