64 ways to say I Love You

Dec 08, 2004 12:51

I've been feeling a bit down the last few days, and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it is related to what Neil has dubbed "The Chinababy Syndrome." Luckily, he bought me a big box of crayons and a nice sketchpad for Hanukkah. I mentioned this to a couple of people and they laughed, as if this were a silly present. Do Not Mock the Crayons! I adore crayons ( Read more... )

Ou sont les Netflix DVD rentals d'antan?

They ran off with the snow, baby.

And, a fresh box of crayons and blank pad of paper? Heaven. A sure way to get you out of the gloomies.

You are brilliant as always, dear Wendy.

Incidentally, will you be on this coast for New Years? We're having a tiki party New Year's Day.

Alas! I will be in Oregon. TIKI NEW YEARS!

Bring all that stuff down to DC in July ... July 9th is my Tiki 33 1/3 B-day!

We may be able to help you out there. We bought out Party Warehouse last summer and planned to do a regular summer party, but then I got pneumonia, which is not becoming in a hostess. I really like this idea better, actually. We're going to project Elvis movies on the wall and make frou frou party drinks. Neil has the coolest Hawaiian shirt, covered w/ a design of retro cocktails. Plus, we may roast a pig.

There's no alas about being in Oregon, though.

I don't know what is up with my boyfriend (netflix) these days. He's totally slacking.

I think I may have had the big box at some point. I was a coloring maniac. Man, I should buy a box of crayons. I had forgotten how much fun they are.

Yeah, treat yourself! Or maybe everyone should send me their address and I will mail out waxy happiness. At least I don't have to worry about them melting!

Maybe your boyfriend will get jealous and start treating you (and your friends) better. :)

most of my friends are guys so it is not unusual for me to be surrounded by them as if we were in some old Hollywood musical and they were going to scoop me up and carry me around the stage

That is delightful! Some of the boys in my theatre group used to pick me up and carry me around, but they don't do it anymore. So sad.

Maybe you need to just happen to be standing on a chair w/ your arms outstretched more often? :)

The guys are total dolls, and incredibly gallant to me.

Good plan, except for maybe the chair. I think part of the reason I get picked up is that I'm short. Are you?

Yup - well, not quite 5'3". Shortish. So that may be an astute hypothesis.

I suppose you just have to stand with outstretched arms, like a plaintive toddler.

I have big bozes of crayons and several boxes of colored pencils. And beautiful, grown up coloring books. I got them from my mom - she loves to color, too, when she's stressed.

You are in good company.

I think I am going to offer to mail crayons to anyone who is feeling down right now. It is a whole lot cheaper and more sensible than drowning my sorrows in liquor. I do want to get a coloring book, too, for those times when I am too down even to make the effort to draw. Maybe someday I will move on to black velvet paint-by-numbers.

I hate guest books, because who really cares about looking at a bunch of signatures later on? I think that is actually a charming idea, and then you could put all of the cards in a scrapbook. The thing to do would be to have some at each table, so people can work on them while they're enjoying the reception.

And don't forget stickers!

Neil and I did a wide mat around our ketubah and had people sign there. It's still hanging in our front hall and I read the happy messages all the time.

We had postcards upon which people were to write their own toast to us. Love em!
