I just received an email from LiveJournal "congratulating" me on my 16 year anniversary here. My first thought was, "Fuck. It's been 16 years since I had the delusion that I could write."

I got laid off yesterday. Okay, really I got fired. However it's a bit of a weird firing. The core reason given was that they didn't feel confident that I could be relied upon to finish my critical work. As such, I was asked to estimate how long it will take me to finish my critical work. Goin' up to the spirit in the SciFi

A new friend had this to say to me: "I don't expect a movie to be an exact recreation of a novel. My hope is for a movie to capture the "spirit" of the novel."

Genetic research is pushing against another boundary - animal/human hybrids. In this particular case, it's a bovine embryo with the bulk of the DNA removed and human DNA injected. I've Finally Got Class

Or at least I enrolled in one: the Gotham Writer's Workshop. The SF online class starts April 15th and goes for 10 weeks. I'm not quite sure who's teaching it yet. The initial login is a test area and that's being run by the Dean of Faculty, Alexander Steele. I don't know if he'll actually be teaching this or whether it will be another faculty ( Read more... )

I'm relatively pleased at the moment. I got a call at work from my wife wondering why I was getting a package from Ray Bradbury. Just the news I was hoping to hear. I had sent Ray my copy of Fahrenheit 451 begging for a signature.
